Zippy Meets Big People
I was disappointed that I couldn’t find any swans, but the other wildlife in Oklahoma was pretty cool. I guess it is all for the best; I have heard that swans can be pretty mean.
So we were up early the next day.
I had to get my morning cup of coffee. Lobsters always need that burst of caffeine. Have you ever seen a groggy lobster? That’s why.
PK told me that there were a lot of people for me to meet. I am not surprised that she wanted to show me off. I am a handsome lobster.
The first stop was at Walgreens. It is funny, I don’t know if you humans have noticed, but I think Mr. Walgreen and Mr. Starbuck are taking over.
This Walgreens sells cigarettes. Ironic. For some reason they did not gladly accept my personal check.
After leaving Walgreens, we came upon this:
PK told me that his name was the Golden Driller. He really needed a golden odor-eater, if you ask me. I didn’t spend much time there.
I must confess, they grow them big in Tulsa.
See what I mean?
These things kind of scared me. PK told me that they are praying hands. I thought that it would be hard to ignore that prayer. I’d give those hands anything they asked for.
While we were driving, the radio station PK played was quite good. When she told me that she could introduce me to the DJ.
So here is the really tall building in Tulsa where the radio station was.
On the 58th floor of that building, I met DJ Craig West. I got to be on the air with him. What a thrill…for him.
This is DJ Dave. Did you know that lobsters and DJ’s are kindred spirits? I think it is the antennae.
But as you may know, I am really interested in helping people. Specifically, I am trying to raise money for brain cancer research. PK knew this and she took me somewhere I won’t forget for a long time.
This is the grave of a little girl named Kylie. Kylie died from brain cancer.
Sigh.
As much as I didn’t want to go here, I am glad I did. It makes all of the time I spend in the postal system worthwhile.
Then we went to see Kylie’s family.
Here is Teresa. She is Kylie’s Mom. She let me have a sip of this iced latte. Nice lady. Really nice.
This is Kylie’s big brother, Tyler. He was initially intimidated when I used my famous “lobster head pounce.”
But then he warmed up to me and gave me some of his smoothie.
Finally, there was Kylie’s little brother Breandan. I think he was teething. He tried to put me in his mouth…
But the “lobster head pounce” taught him otherwise.
Let me say that even though I saw the Golden Driller and those huge hands, I think that Kylie’s family-members were the biggest people I saw in Tulsa. I was honored to meet them.
