Zippy Goes to Work!
I’m off to work with Kim!
She says I can be a nurse for a night!
She didn’t have any scrubs small enough for a lobster, so she let me borrow her Barbie nurse’s cap and cape.
I’m just about ready to jump out of Kim’s bag and get to work!
Now where did I put that stethoscope?
*****
First, I have to get report from the other nurses.
They tell me about all the patients in the emergency department!
Luckily things aren’t very busy tonight. Hope it stays that way!
*****
Sounds like we’re going to be getting a patient!
I’m taking report over the radio from the ambulance.
I hope the patient isn’t having an allergic reaction to lobsters!
Whew! The patient is only allergic to shellfish!
Wait, that’s me!
Uh oh!
*****
Patient safety comes first!
Every good lobster nurse makes sure to wash their hands before they take care of patients!
It takes me a long time to wash because I have so many claws!
At least this lotion will keep them soft!
No germs are allowed in the emergency department.
This means the emergency department is very clean, all the time.
The housekeeper just finished washing the floor in this room.
I will put up this “Wet Floor” sign so people won’t slip on the floor!
Remember, safety comes first!
*****
I need to get a medicine out of the medicine machine for our patient.
I just push the button and take the medication out!
It’s like a computer.
This is fun!
*****
It’s time for me to write down all the information for my shift.
It’s almost time for us to go home.
I hope I remember all the important stuff we did tonight!
I’m tired and ready for…
*****
Coffee!
This is a fresh pot.
I sure had fun working in the emergency department tonight!
We took care of a lot of people.
I’m glad I got to help!
